Welcome
Hello there! Welcome to Foster, Love, Adopt, Repeat (FLAR)! We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is simple; raise awareness, provide support and meet the needs of children in foster care.
We raise awareness about the need for foster and adoptive homes. There are currently more than 400,000 children in the U.S. foster care system. We host community events, and we utilize social media to educate about the realities of foster care.
FLAR provides support and resources to foster, adoptive and kinship parents. We organize monthly support groups and casual meet ups, helping families build networks and support systems. We truly believe that when foster parents feel supported, they are better equipped to support the children placed in their home.
We meet the needs of children and their families that have been affected by foster care. Our office and resource center are proudly located in Downtown Mooresville. Often children come into care with nothing but the clothes on their back. Our resource center provides a welcome bag including, brand new pajamas, diapers, wipes, bottles, toiletries, clothing, school supplies, toys, comfort items, and anything else that is needed. The resource center is also always open for foster and kinship families to come and shop when they are in need of new items at absolutely no cost to them. The first step to healing is making sure these children feel seen and loved from the day they enter care and every day thereafter.
Not only do we meet their physical needs, but we also help with the emotional needs of children. We host “Thrive” and “Driven”, meet ups for pre-teens and teens that have been affected by foster care and adoption. These groups allow these children to have a free, casual outing with peers who have had similar life experiences. Thrive and Driven allow them to make new friends, build self-esteem and confidence, go on adventures and find new hobbies.
Having been foster parents ourselves, we know first hand the need for support and community. We have adopted 9 amazing children through the foster care system. Our lives have been so blessed by our children and we are passionate about sharing our story and love for the foster care community. Be sure to check out our blog posts for our personal experiences with foster care.
We know that fostering and adopting is not for everyone, but everyone can do something! Please help us educate others about the amazing children right in our own communities that need people to step out of their comfort zone and provide a loving, safe haven for them. Whether it be temporary or forever. Thank you for stopping by. Please let us know if you have any questions or would like additional information on ways to get involved.
