Camden Peifer Memorial Scholarship

Camden Peifer’s life was marked by qualities that set him apart from most other young people.  He had a curiosity that caused him to independently explore his passions with great excitement.  When he committed to something, he followed through to the end, making sure every task was completed with excellence. He made those around him feel valued and appreciated.  Cam loved to invest in those younger than him, and would give his time selflessly so others could reach their goals; he would be thrilled to have a scholarship like this in his honor. 

The Camden Peifer Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Camden Peifer and his deep connection to children, especially those in foster care and adoption communities. This scholarship seeks to support young people who have experienced foster care or adoption and are pursuing higher education, vocational training, or personal development programs.

Eligibility
Applicants must:

  • Have been in foster care, currently in foster care, placed in kinship/ guardianship and/or adopted.
  • Be a high school senior, high school graduate, or currently enrolled in a college, vocational program, or trade school. (ages 17 – 23)
  • Demonstrate perseverance, character, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their community.

Qualities
Applicants must display these qualities:

  • The hunger for knowledge and the desire to explore every aspect of their area of interest. 
  • Service to the community.
  • Goal oriented with the ability to articulate their future plans. 

Application Requirements

  • Completed Application Form (link below)
  • Essay responding to one of the prompts provided
  • One letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, employer, or community leader
  • Proof of submitted application, enrollment or acceptance into a post-secondary or vocational program (if applicable)

Essay Prompt (between 500-700 words)

Camden Peifer’s life reminds us of the power of positivity, grace, passion and commitment.
We believe every person’s story is unique, and you are more than what you have been through. This scholarship honors strength, resilience, and hope for a bright future.
Please share a part of your journey that has shaped who you are today.

You may write about:

  • A challenge you overcame or are learning to navigate.
  • A person, activity, or experience that has inspired or encouraged you.
  • Your dreams for the future and how you hope to make a positive difference.
  • How will your education or training help you give back or create a positive impact in your community?

You do not need to share any details you are not comfortable sharing.
Focus on what feels safe for you and what you most want others to know about your strengths, values, and goals.

Applications are due no later than October 10, 2025.
We will select an applicant no later than October 25, 2025.

You will be contacted via phone if you are selected to receive this scholarship. We will be presenting this scholarship at our 2nd Annual FriendsGiving luncheon on November 5, 2025 from 12-1:30pm. If you are selected, we hope you will join us.
