Williamson's Chapel 575 Brawley School Road, MooresvilleWe are beyond excited to partner with New Mentality to offer a 6 week therapeutic training/counseling class on trauma informed parenting led by Mental Health Intern, Randy Wales. We will be covering topics including but not limited to lying, food hoarding, self harm, anxiety, depression, and coping skills. This will be an interactive group with limited spots available to allow us to address specific circumstances and behaviors that are important to you. With a background in psychology and a desire to help others, he brings a fresh perspective to the counseling field. After spending 27 years as a sales manager at a global technology company, Randy is excited to embark on his journey in mental health counseling. Early Years and Education: Born and raised in a small town in Idaho, Randy served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years. Driven by a keen interest in understanding people’s emotions and motivations, he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Developmental Psychology at Liberty University, where he excelled academically and participated in mental health research projects. He is currently completing his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, also at Liberty University, with an expected graduation date of May 2025. Internship Journey: Randy’s counseling journey will begin at New Mentality, where he will assess, diagnose, and treat mental health issues under the careful supervision of Tracy Alston. His warm demeanor and active listening skills make him an excellent fit for clients and the team. Areas of Focus: Randy has a long-standing passion for working with parents, families, and couples, having facilitated workshops on parenting, couples; relationships, and healthy coping mechanisms. His ability to connect with diverse individuals allows him to create a safe space for clients to express their feelings and fears. Approach and Techniques: Randy’s counseling approach is integrative, drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and mindfulness practices. He tailors his interventions to each persons unique journey and incorporates the latest neuroscience insights to inform effective treatment methods for a range of issues, from trauma to anxiety and depression.
